Changing the Default Font

Times New Roman is a nice all-purpose font, but it's not for everybody. Some sophisticates prefer the clean European lines of Arial, while more traditional types like the dignified Poor Richard.
If you're tired of looking at Times New Roman every time you open a new document in Word, changing your default font is easy. Open a blank document (if you want to change the default font for documents created in the Normal template) by going to File, New. Then select Format, Font and choose a new font and size. Finally, click the Default button, and this font becomes the default for any document created using the Normal template.
